Hello all,

I travelled this afternoon between Luton and St Albans, using my ENTCS Bus Pass to obtain a 50% reduction. On my tickets, it states "Adult Standard Class with Senior Save Railcard". I've never come across this particular railcard, and it doesn't seem to be advertised anywhere. Whatever it is, I'm sure I don't have one!

I thought there is only one Senior RailCard issued by RailCard.co.uk.
Never seen the Senior Save RailCard, but interested to find out more.

When checking this on BR Fares the term "LACON" appears above the fare. I believe that this is a generic code for certain Local Authority CONcessions. Does Bedfordshire have such a scheme?

Yes, indeed it does. I had expected something like "LACON" to be printed on the ticket. Why the description "Senior Save Railcard" when, in my case, I am not a senior citizen nor hold a senior railcard?

That's what the data says to print. Your railcard is the ENCTS. I expect someone just thought this was only for senior citizens, and forgot it could be granted to people with disabilities too.

Yes, that used to be the code for Greater Manchester concessionary tickets.

Looking at Knowledgebase, the issuing instructions say to use Railcard/discount type SRS (Senior Save Railcard) or SCC (County Discount Code) to apply the discount, so it's definitely correct.

Prior to the introduction of the "new" print format, it would have printed as LACON (as shown on BRFares for both) on tickets.
