I was thinking that this would go under the ticketing forum because its about ticket machines never mind, I'll post it here.

so yesterday I was having a bash, and I came across a ticket machine, nothing odd there but guess what click here (link refers to a section of my site), all I could say was fail! and that I wish it was a BSoD because that would be on failblog!

Are we supposed to be able to read the error message???

Edit, OK Ive just read the text under but Im still not sure what your on about. Computers do tend the break down and throw up errors every now and then....even railway computers.

It happens a bit, I saw an SWT one recently that had crashed. The LUL moving adverts seem to BSOD fairly regularly too (up the escalators.) 2 or 3 years ago a cashpoint on Tottenham Court Road crashed on me, eating my card before rebooting and showing that it was running OS/2 even relatively recently!

The departure board screens on FCC TL network (particularly Luton and Luton Airport Parkway) seem to run Windows XP. They have been regularly crashing recently.

Ticket machine at Rochford crashed on me a few years back; went to the Windows XP loading screen before displaying the interface's out of service message.

I have seen windows XP error messages on both the ticket machines & also the departure summary screens at Potters Bar several times - sometimes, the departure screens decide to reboot whilst you are looking at them

The other day, one of the ticket machines was just showing the windows file directory tree on the screen !

I've seen similar at airports, on cash machines etc. Errors like this aren't uncommon and aren't confined to railways.

I've seen a similar thing on the adverts at London stations, the funniest being a Windows error message appearing on one of the large screens at Cannon Street (whilst an advert for Windows 7 was running in the background!)

The ticket machine at Romsey (installed in 2006 when FGW introduced PFs) always has an "out of service" message on the screen, or there's a notice saying it can only accept cards.

I've had a ticket machine crash while I was purchasing tickets with my card. I had to wait ages for the staff to retrieve it :-x

I suppose nobody has ever had their ticket printed for free in error by a ticket machine? 8)

They're always crashing up here :P

Crewe: Two ticket machines frozen on the XP startup screen, one displaying out of order and one out of paper :p

The guy who came to fix them was obviously quite right when he resorted to kicking the one out of paper - was a very funny sight
