not much better on silver link yesterday, complete shut down for 2-3 hours, they sent 8 of us down to euston in taxi's to work some 12 cars north, for the evening peak, the police were stopping ppl coming down the slope to the barriers and the platform (8-11), and only letting them past when the train was ready for boarding, the must have been about 30 silverlink staff on the platforms giving out info , this included all the top men including the route director for county and metro, then it took just under two hours to get from euston to northampton on a semi- fast train, 50mph blanket speed restriction all the way.

I had to drive from London to Hull yesterday (well, someone had too!).

Oi!!! ;)

In the Hull area the trains weren't doing too badly, until a tree blocked the line between Hull and Cottingham that is  Mum had to get the bus home instead. Road wise, a tree apparently fell over down Holderness Road (the main A165 leaving Hull to the east of the city), blocking one side of the carriageway and causing complete chaos. Meanwhile, a tree was lying rather pathetically on its side completely uprooted by the side of the road which leads to my school.

Don't expect things to get much better - it's forecast snow starting Monday!
