VideoCapture_20190225-010548.jpg IMG-20190212-WA0002.jpg There is at least one unit which can display some sort of relevant information on the destination displays, outside and inside (no picture of inside I'm afraid).

They might all be like that, as I’ve seen displays like that even when it’s a Scotrail one, which nobody would know was a northern train anyway.

Why do we even need Northern-only tickets (except for advance purchase)? The franchise system should be set up to prevent this happening.

Quite simply on shared routes it ensures Northern get to keep all the money from a fare rather than having to share it through ORCATs revenue allocation. Northern probably get very little money on all operator tickets.

Worth noting that today (what's left of it) has no 170s in use by TPE, as engineering works elsewhere on the route means there's enough 185s to operate both diagrams. A slightly unusual operation today is a Marsden to Middlesbrough service, created by joining the rump of the Airport to Boro service to the rump of the Huddersfield to Piccadilly stopper.

No 170s are booked to be used on TPE services on Sundays. Both diagrams are booked 185s on a Sunday.
