Are the TP sets in a fixed formation or are they interchangeable like classic loco hauled stock. From the photos I've seen, it looks more the Mk5As are one fixed unit with a loco attached as opposed to individual vehicles.

As I understand it, operationally, the Mk5a sets are treated as fixed formation.

In the early months locos stuck with sets but switching is now much more common.

They're treated as fixed formation for the most part, though the locomotive will probably be switched from time to time. There's a spare driving trailer which can be used if one of the others gets damaged, and AIUI other vehicles can be swapped should there be a need...

You might need to be the reincarnation of Alan Turing to make the software work afterwards though!

Yeah, they're pretty much a single-ended unpowered multiple unit with a screw coupling and buffers on the end. More like a 4-TC than a rake of Mk3s. Quite similar in concept to what Virgin were originally proposing for the non-tilting Voyagers, I believe.

It was 47815 with a set of Mk5a. I've a few pics, but not sure which set as it passed quite quickly.

Edit: TP10 apparently.

Looks like the scum elements in Church Fenton are getting bored of staying in. TP 08 suffered a broken windscreen due to stone throwers this afternoon.

That’s awful. Sadly there have been some trespassing incidents in recent days too.

Set curtailed at Victoria and went back ECS to Longsight as 5H70.

Something came off Ardwick after to form 1E47 back to Scarborough so presumably it was a unit.

Two diagrams by 68+Mk5, two by 185s.
And part of the reason this is a good idea is that otherwise there could be a risk that (hard-won!) crew knowledge of the 68+Mk5A sets could lapse, if the crisis went on long enough: clearly continuing to diagram them is the right thing to do.

Do you know what service it worked?

10:34 Scarbados to Scouseland then whatever it formed/forms after then. Put "Liverpool Lime Street" in on Real Time Trains Advanced around 13:00 today and you should see an arrival from Scarborough so just follow that back and forth

Thanks, the other mk5 thread (why are there two again?) has it down as 1E23 0631 Manchester Victoria to Scarbados, 68033 + TP07.

This should be going in the Diagrams thread. Mods, can you please move these messages over accordingly? Thank you for pointing out - 2 months' furlough makes you insane I swear!

I thought they were staying plain blue?
I don't think there's any plain blue ones left now. I'm pretty sure the plain blue was just an interim livery pre TPE. Happy to be corrected.

001-005, 008, 009, 016-018, 033, 034 DRS.
010-015 Chiltern Silver.
019-032 TPE.
006 and 007 ScotRail.
