It's still appalling that it's edging ever closer to TWO years since the first MK5 set was delivered and at least 2/3 months since the last one arrived but we've still only got max 4 sets out daily, this is despite a full timetable now been in operation.

The next step in their introduction involved stock being overnight at York and as discussed upthread training for York traincrew was stopped for a period so it isn't easy to step up from four to six (or seven) diagrams.

023/7 on 1E37 : 1254 Liv-Scar
020/9 on 1F64 : 1134 Scar-Liv
Both keeping good time.
My first time on 020, just three more for the TPE set.

Anything working today Sunday 1 march ... thank you

Posting elsewhere indicates one 68+Mk5 set out on Scarborough to York shuttles alongside 185s on the other diagrams. No 68+Mk5 across the Pennines today.

I suspect that May timetable change will be the earliest we can hope for in terms of the Middlesbrough/Redcar workings, though I would love to be corrected!

That seems very unlikely. While I accept that it isn't a failsafe method of working out what the plans are, there is no suggestion in the open data feeds that any of the Redcar services are linked to diagrams starting at Longsight by that time.

So is it expected that introduction onto the Redcars will have to wait until the December timetable change? Or might they be introduced in the interim? Thanks

oki there is a set at york depot and a 68 to start this week

Ah good, that sounds promising. How many traincrew can they train in the next 10 weeks before the May timetable? is it likely to be enough for the York starters on the Liverpool to Scarborough route to go 68+Mk5 at the May timetable change?

None. Training on 68/mk.5's, due to recommence next week, has been binned until at least June, despite train crew already being booked onto courses. Utter, utter, shambles..... Its 4 years in June since TPE announced they would be using 68's as a "quick fix" to their capacity problems....

Hi folks,

I can't quite remember which post has the diagrams on, so could anyone tell me if the 18:54 from Lime Street to Scarborough on Wednesday is a MK5a please?

I don't know why TPE didn't just bother just ordering 44 802s. Be much simpler and in service much quicker than the current situation. Currently with most 397 and mk5 stock not in service that millions of pounds of rolling stock sitting around not earning money.

That has been explained before. There wasn't and still isn't capacity to build the extra 802s.

As I've said many times before, Transpennine don't care about capacity, they care about cost and revenue. Hence why the ORCATS raiding 802s were planned into service quickly, and the costly extra carriages of the CAF stock have been delayed as much as possible.

Do the TPE evangelists believe me now?

On the other hand...
https://www.firstgroupplc.com/news-and-media/latest-news/2020/04-03-2020.aspx
I'm sure I've seen crowds wailing tearfully on the streets across the North, just like when Princess Di died...

The rationale for the Mark 5As was (and to a large extent remains) perfectly sound - the implementation is what has been atrocious. The trains are mechanically sound and forward-compatible with the electrification that we might after all (please, gods!!) be getting under TRU.
