On the other hand...
https://www.firstgroupplc.com/news-and-media/latest-news/2020/04-03-2020.aspx
I'm sure I've seen crowds wailing tearfully on the streets across the North, just like when Princess Di died...

The rationale for the Mark 5As was (and to a large extent remains) perfectly sound - the implementation is what has been atrocious. The trains are mechanically sound and forward-compatible with the electrification that we might after all (please, gods!!) be getting under TRU.

That's a rather unfortunate photograph for a page about someone leaving the company!

Or a subliminal message revealing First's true feelings about Goodwin's departure! Or could even be a shot of Goodwin himself after a fairly radical facial and spa session, looking forward to anything rather than trying to sort out the basket-case that TPE became.

Hi,

Does anybody know if any Nova 3s will be in Manchester today between 11:30 and 16:30 please?

Thanks in advance.

This is from one of the Nova groups on Facebook:

“A reminder that Sunday 08 March has an amended timetable again so nova fleet diagrams will be affected.

Below are usual nova routes

North route
No trains Piccadilly to Airport,
Liverpool to Victoria shuttles (185s),

The Liverpool-Edinburgh services will operate Huddersfield-Edinburgh only,

The Liverpool-Scarborough services will operate York-Malton ONLY.

The Airport-Newcastle services will operate Piccadilly-Newcastle only.

Anglo Scottish services via WCML will operate Piccadilly-Scotland.”

Thank you! Might try my luck for the Nova 2s instead in that case.

None. Training on 68/mk.5's, due to recommence next week, has been binned until at least June, despite train crew already being booked onto courses. Utter, utter, shambles..... Its 4 years in June since TPE announced they would be using 68's as a "quick fix" to their capacity problems....

@LittleAH CAFs fault I assume?

Thanks for that. Saw all four at either Leeds or York. I entered the station as 68023 was leaving so didn't get the coaching stock.

I’m really pleased that you managed to see them all.

I believe stock for the one you missed is as follows:
TP07
11507 (First class)
12719
12720
12721
12807 (Driving trailer)

Two Nova 3s are in service each day under the emergency timetable but folks please don't go to stations trying to tick 68s off. I know a few on here live next to rail tracks so please be reliant on them to post here and update us with which sets are out.

Why would anyone want to tick a 68 off? They've done nothing wrong!

I was referring to ticking them off at stations :D as opposed to very quiet footpaths and gardens for those who live alongside the line of which a couple are Forum members

There are some people in Scarborough who'd like to give the 68's a damn good thrashing*, as opposed to some of us, who appreciate their damn good thrashing! And now they are being told to stay at home ;)

They are however somewhat more reliable than a 1970s Morris Minor....... ;)

Whilst the deep dive into the history of motoring with Basil Fawlty is interesting it is a touch off-topic ;)

... for which I can only apologise sincerely. (That's for the vehicle misidentification, not the topic-meander........)

  • 68028 heading Crewe DRS to go onto DRS work
  • 68024, 68033 and 68034 are leaving Crewe DRS bound for TPE work (Heard 033/034 are getting more mods)

TPE pulling freight will look odd/interesting. I remember InterCity locos occasionally drafted in on freight in the 90s and early-00s

According to the plan..
  • 68028 will be on 6G06 tonight then 6K02/6C02/6K05 tomorrow...
  • 68021 and 68034 are moving to Crewe DRS Gresty today at 1700. This is so 68021 can have a battery charge (They're flat) and so 68034 can have ETS repairs.
Subject to change.
