Any idea why tpexpress.co.uk redirects to Capital Connect? www.tpexpress.co.uk is the First TransPennine Express website so you would have thought First would have the sense to point tpexpress.co.uk to the actual TPE website. Why they think anyone typing that would want FCC is beyond me. It's not even that First will get more money, as IIRC the FCC journey planner just redirects to NRES from where you'd have to choose a vendor just like any other NRES based sale.

Feel free to move this to off-topic - but seeing as the off-topic forum is apparently specifically for non-rail issues I though I'd put this here.

I'm not saying that I can't find the website. I'm saying that First are stupid for redirecting the non-www. address to FCC, when the person typing it clearly doesn't want that.

I think I know why.

It's because they have both sites on the same server, and on the same IP address, and it's not configured for "tpexpress.co.uk", the default site is the FFC one so it just goes to that.

Their other sites use different IP's.

My theory is that the TPE one isn't used much (It's rather useless) so traffic levels don't warrant a seperate server for it.

Bet they don't say any of that in their response to you though.;)

That sounds very plausible Yorkie; thanks. In contrast TPE's CustomerRel story is

"The First Group websites are designed and hosted for us by a specialist
website provider - Open Agency. I am unsure why, upon entering the URL
tpexpress.co.uk, without the www prefix, one is directed to the First
Capital Connect website, rather than our own. I have passed your comments
to our Marketing department who, I am sure, will wish to address this
matter with Open Agency.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention."

Which sounds reasonable to me - we'll see if anything happens (if I remember to check it once in a while).

Edit: Just realised the FCC website is being shut down tonight between 1930 and 2000. So something may be happening then!
