A happy coincidence for us Teessiders and those further along the line, but I was baffled that this happened with the increase in resources just as the rest of the industry is being battered to reduce costs. My understanding (could be wrong so do correct) is that the issue was driven by the introduction of the LNER services, so TPE needed to be kicked further along to terminate. Redcar didn't really work as noted, so Saltburn and absorbing the extra operational cost it is.
Still, it should be reliable with the lengthy turnaround as the original May 18's heroic turnarounds were proven too tight. It's similar now to Scarborough where there is a 55 minute turnaround.
