Scotrail are trying to organise bus replacements between Edinburgh park and bathgate.

Failing that could take the 6:56 to West Calder from there 801 bus to the hospital and 21 onto Armadale.

Ticket is valid to Livingston South on that line, but ithey ask the guard nicely before they travel, some will accept Bathgate and beyond tickets as far as West Calder.

Ta for that but have already suggested that of course. So just waiting to hear what she is currently doing though.

The driver must have not stop while the light is flash or it is fault crossing?

There are no level crossings on this bit of line. Been on it many many times from Waverley to Partick. If any further from there i have no idea, Especially since only go up to Armadale mostly.

Oh, was it on a crossing? I've not seen that reported.

EDIT: I see that I was a bit late to the party. :(

Passenger's injury is minor (grazed by flying glass). No info on the condition of the car's occupants (if any).

With the window frame deforming that significantly into the passenger compartment I wouldn't be surprised to see the RAIB taking an interest in this.

Would the thread title be more accurate as "car hits train....." given it appears from the images that the car has hit the train side as the train was passing?

One assumes that the train was moving whilst the car was stationary; therefore the train has surely hit the car? None of that alters the rights or wrongs of what should or shouldn't have been where, of course!

Believe it was youths who left the car in the line. Luckily no major injuries. They should be jailed if caught though. Could have been fatal.

Line reopened overnight before start of service this morning which is good news. If rumours are true re youths then they should be jailed for a serious amount of time.

Here in West Lothian we seem to specialise in breeding automotive muppets. A few years ago this story hit the headlines.

Why is their age relevant - is there any reason why a "youth" should receive a harsher punishment for the same action than a "middle aged" or "old" would?

Can't remember mentioning that youths should get a harsher punishment. It was rumoured that 'youths' carried were involved.

At least the Scottish police call men men and not 'male'. I always want to ask 'male what?'.

Apparently reports that a 19year old has been arrested and is appearing at Livingston court on Monday.
