Good Evening all,

I have recently been doing some research on unit interiors, so this thread has come in handy as I had very little knowledge. However, I am now struggling with the seating used in some classes which I am not too familiar with.

Would anyone be able to please tell me what seating is used in the following classes.
Classes 168, 171, 175, 180, 222, 332, 333, 334, 376, 379, 395 and 458.
Classes 220, 221 and 390, which all seem to be the same/similar.
Classes 455 (Southern), 507 and 508, which all appear to be the same/similar.

Also, would I be correct in thinking the Class 314/315/318 use a form of Ashbourne, although it looks more low backed, or are they something else.

Thanks, Sam.

It's worth remembering what the seats looked like when the new generation of commuter trains arrived in the 70s, as the seats fitted were terrible, unsupportive and thin. The cushions tended to come off too!

There were more cushions strewn around the line than on the trains.

IC70:

(not my photo)

Found in:
Chiltern, Greater Anglia etc. Mk3s, Mk2 Short sets, EMT (and two VTEC) HSTs

Pros:
Very well padded and sprung, good width, seats low meaning good view
Cons: Seats low, therefore unsupportive, posture encourages slouching, especially if tall, fixed armrests a nuisance and limit shoulder space

MY OVERALL RATING: 5/10

Also on the Cambrian Coast Class 37 sets too I believe.

(not my image)

Found in: 220, 221 & 390's

Pros: Well padded, large, comfortable and lots of legroom.

Cons: Can be a little too comfortable (enough to send you to sleep sometimes which isn't good if you're trying to work).

MY RATING: 9.5/10

Virgin Standard Class Seats:
UK-train-seats.jpg

(not my image)

Found in:
220, 221 & 390's

Pros: Not half bad, okay padding & aren't as bad as they look.

Cons: Not as comfortable over long distances (God help anyone on Euston - Glasgow), legroom is a little tight, too narrow & bad footroom.

MY RATING: 5/10

Those 1st class seats pictured aren't used on Voyagers I'm afraid. I'll get a pic of the leather ones if I find myself on one at some point.

What is that 'extension' on the gangway end of the furthest two seats?
