I couldn’t find a thread dedicated to scenarios in Train Sim and thought it might be useful to post scenario recommendations. I know I can spend what seems like quite a while finding interesting scenarios (particularly given the long list of requirements a lot come with).

My first recommendation is this great scenario available on ATS. It’s actually 3 scenarios, driving from Newcastle to King’s Cross in an LNER Mk4 DVT. It needs the LNER reskins but they’re easy to install and these scenarios make it worthwhile.

Sounds like a nice idea for a thread. I hope it's alright for me to plug my content?
I've not made anything new for it in quite a while and the scenarios on there are really quite basic, but they're something. I keep meaning to make new scenarios on there but never get around to it! This scenario is one of the better ones: https://sites.google.com/view/peter...nline-south/2j83-2333-hertford-north-moorgate

Thanks Peter, I’ll certainly take a look at that at some point this week. How did you get into scenario making? Is it difficult? It’s something I’ve always thought about but never delved into.

I know you’re a fan of the 37 Tom - there’s a scenario on Alan Thomson where you drive a vacuum-braked 37 on a FootEx on the Woodhead in BR Blue route:

Not a scenario as such, but there’s a merge for the WCML on ATS which allows you to drive all the way from Preston to Glasgow/Edinburgh as one route:

Thanks for those! First one sounds great. I’ve got the ATS merge as the WCML is largely my stomping ground on TS. Can’t wait for the full merge so I can one day do a full run from Euston to Glasgow in a 92 on Sleeper duty!

I've got back into Train Sim a bit more recently. Finally managed to get a reskin to work yesterday after an age of trying haha. Thanks for that WCML merge, I'll look into that. I don't have many add ons but got all of those and will be a good drive. Are there scenarios available which run the full distance?

I would imagine so on Alan Thomson Sim if you have a trawl through the WCML scenario pages.

Thanks Tom. I've only recently signed up to ATS (I was on the hunt for reskins) and need to have a proper look through what he offers on there

Well yes, they will cost nothing to download. Whether you have the requirements is another story. :D
Ah that old chestnut
Nothing worse than ticking off 9 out of 10 requirements for a scenario and being stung by the last item haha.

Must be at least a few out of the hundreds I can use

It's also possible to swap that last missing requirement with something you do own.

Is that through Railworks or whatever it’s called? I’ve heard it mentioned but never looked into it. Is it easy to do?

You can swap them in the in-game editor to a certain extent. Most people will use TS Tools, it isn't that easy at first but once you get used to it then it can become invaluable.

It's taken me months to get a reskin working so this might be a step too far for me haha.

I'd guess this is why I have some workshop scenarios on WCML North that include Cl. 165/166 units? o_O:D

You're welcome :)
I watched a couple of YouTube videos on the subject and then researched bits as I found new things to play with. My scenarios are nowhere near as detailed as others on the likes of ATS or UKTS but it's definitely something I want to develop in the future. This video is really good:

Looks good: not least because it doesn’t have two dozen requirements as well!

It’s so disappointing isn’t it when you find a scenario you really like the sound of, only to discover it needs every EP under the sun and a dozen obscure reskins.

The was one I really liked the look of, then when I looked at it on ATS, it had 48 requirements!

The thing I hate about reskins is that they’re not going to be available forever - developers move domains, they become unavailable etc. Whilst I don’t mind pressing F2 in order to play the scenario, as others have noted, it can ruin the intended effect of the scenario.

I've already stated my thoughts previously on people using what they own to make the most realistic scenario they possibly can. I'll agree here though, 48 is excessive!

Slightly off-topic:

Chester to Llandudno can still be got as part of TS2018 from third-party websites. Does anyone know a way of still getting the extension to Holyhead please?

Could be proven wrong, but I'm told it's not available anywhere.

Such a shame if so! It would be nice if they re-released it without the Virgin branding, the same way they did once they lost the license for the Arriva Trains Wales stuff.

Does anyone know of any scenarios using the Network Rail class 37 that comes with the AP pack vol 2? Test train scenarios using the NR coaches/DBSO would be ideal. TIA.

There’s one for the Fife Circle I have. If I remember I’ll have a look tonight when I’m home from work.
