Hello, I wonder if anyone on this site can help me? I'm a support worker for a young lad with special needs who loves his trains, i've been introduced to the wonderful world of train spotting by him. Anyway he's got various train spotting DVD's which he enjoys but their getting very old/scratched. Basically he enjoys his watching home made train spotting DVD made of the merseyrail trains just 30 seconds of the train coming in and then leaving the station on a loop for about an hour. I was wondering if anybody else out their has these sort of home made DVD's which they would be willing to burn for me? He likes the steam trains too or trams, so if anybody can help then please reply it would be really great for him.
I will pay for any expenses or if you want any money for your troubles.

Thank you.

There are plenty of videos of this type on YouTube which you could download using http://www.zamzar.com/ and then burn to a DVD from your computer.

Yes, just had a look for you and found some Merseyrail videos he might like. I should point out none of these were taken by me, but are ones I found using the search function to get you started;

What ZAMZAR has to say when i try to download.

Sorry, we can't get that video
At the request of Google we have had to remove support for the downloading of YouTube videos on Zamzar.

You can still use Zamzar to convert hundreds of other file formats and we promise to continue introducing cool new features such as the ability to convert files by email.

p.s. they don't necessarily have to be merseyrail.

That's probably because not everyone on Youtube wants their videos downloaded without permission, if you found a suitable video maybe try sending a nice message to the author who might send you a copy.

Some Youtube videos are licensed under the Creative Commons, meaning that they can be freely reused...

Hi mate

First of all, what a good thing your doing! It actually genuinely touched me reading that!! We work in a lot of sheltered housing, doing data and telecomms cabling, all you workers are very understated!

There is a program called "YouTube downloader" which will download YouTube videos. Then, you could probably use something like windows media player, maybe windows movie maker? To make a DVD of all of them on a loop.

Hi there, I was also a fanatic for trains when I was a Youngster. The only way I could do some good trainspotting was to walk to St. Erth on summer Saturdays and Sundays to see the holiday trains from London, the North and Midlands and Scotland.

Can I make a suggestion that could save you time and money. I have 60 or so DVD's and as I travel a lot, and can be lazy and leave the discs un-boxed for some time, I make a copy of the discs to keep in digital form for the future. MP3 and FLV formats are the ones I use. I can then safely keep them on my portable drives and transport them wherever I like. This way when the discs get old or scratched, I still have a watchable programme to enjoy. I also have a device from Merlin Products by which I can connect my portable drive (USB port) and then to the 3 pin plugs behind the TV (the White, Red, Yellow pins) and watch them on the TV, even my 52 inch flat screen all singing and dancing HD TV. (i'd check which formats the device can use first as some formats are incompattable, but thesedays it's easy to download for free programme converters.)

Hope this is of use to you and I congratulate you for the work you are doing for this young lad.
