Thanks for the updates. I'll watch out for 060 and 043 and quietly say my goodbyes.

Any clues on when the 125Group might get the power cars they have been offered (045 and 089 I think)?

When they are available - which depends on their replacements being ready - and it’s 048 and 089 they are getting.

43309/317 first day out today, working 1C15 0519 Leeds-St Pancras. Made it as far as Doncaster before failing; empty back to Neville Hill and service restarted from Derby with a 222.

43320 + NL51 + 43307 also failed, swapped with something much more acceptable in the form of 43076 + NL03 + 43081. NL12 is also running one engine only with 43318 dead on the rear.

Eight MTUs and two VPs were planned today, instead we have three MTUs with one dead, four VPs and a 222! I think today sums up the entire operation of swapping the VPs for the LNER sets.

any chance of a reminder from anyone as to why if the issue was driven by DDA to swap to the ex LNER sets, the power cars as well as the carriages needed to be swapped? Was it just that it seemed simple to swap a whole train for a whole train? Or was there a compatibility issue?

LNER sets have a non-standard 27 way jumper cable. Some of the existing sets are now having 27-way jumpers fitted on the outer ends of the TGS and end TF to allow ex-LNER power cars to operate with them.

That suggests that some of the existing coach sets will remain for quite some time. It seems ironic that the original impetus to change was getting rid of the old coaching stock, but now the VP185 power cars (that didn't legally have to be changed) are going while some of the coaching stock that should have gone is staying.

Starting already! I wonder if there will be more vestibule door marshalls than passengers?

Odds on that second diagram failing to materialise based on today's performance :!:

Also seems odd to return them so early in the day?

We'll see how far that set makes it, if at all. And I agree, it does seem odd to return them that early.

The timings are traditional and aimed at the Saturday accommodation switch-overs - customers checking out on Saturday morning after breakfast, other customers checking in for the following week during the afternoon.

Still says this on EMR web site:

Because of restrictions, unlike previous years, we are unable to run extra, longer trains to seaside destinations such as Skegness during the summer months. If this changes we will let you know, however, if you are planning your summer staycation please do not plan to travel to the seaside by train.

Rail Enthusiasts, please help us provide a service for those who need to travel by avoiding our stations. We look forward to welcoming you back when the time is right.

Doesn't surprise me, updating the website is a bit hit and miss most of the time. There's still a few station facilities that need to be updated and it's been like that since August last year.

Not wanting to drift off the topic of the thread but a quick question - the NMT aside, have any MTU engined power cars worked to Skegness before?

Not sure but certainly will be the first visit of a LNER livered set to Skegness!
