By cancelling 9E06 in platform 5 at York today, they ensured they had one to launch to the media by trundling it as 5E06 into York platform 2o_O

TPE are a bit like the old tv game show "bullseye".

I can hear Jim Bowen now "look at the train you could have been travelling on" if we hadn't cancelled it for passengers to show the media!!

I thought things were getting better. Nope, not really! :frown::(

I thought LNWR was bad but TPE are getting to be the worst train company in England all the flak northern get for things going wrong u have TPE cancelling trains left right and centre saying lack of driver's or some other rubbish it's about they got their act together and stated giving people a decent train service

Not the first time it has happened for media-related promotions.

Those cancellations are odd/wrong as I was on the 1300 from Newcastle and it was 802203.

To add to my confusion the front coach A was out of service with TPE crew guarding the doors. Seemed to be lots of cameras in it. Those with reservations for A were eventually directed to coach D, which said D on the electronic board but had A labels stuck to the window. Cue confused passengers.

To be fair, trying to introduce three new train fleets all at the same time, as well as run to new destinations, can’t be an easy job to organise.

I take your point though and your Jim Bowen remark made me laugh!

I suspect people would have been grateful to have any train this morning with the following Newcastle to Liverpool departures all cancelled:
09:00, 10:02, 11:02, 12:03.

09:00, 10:02, 11:02, 12:03.

TPE management ordered 3 types of train fleets for reasons already covered, quicker introduction nd so forth, hasn't happened, not all TPEs fault we know.
They had to setup a program of training for staff, very lackadaisical in planning that, promising the introduction of 2 sets of Mk3s for capacity increase and aid training, they went back on that. Just start getting Mk5a sets up and running then decided to move the main training from the Mk5a sets to Class 802 and 397 because time was running out on a service upgrade to Edinburgh via East Coast. Class 802s run if and when your lucky.
Not one Class 397 in passenger service yet and the timetable change is 3 weeks away. There going to lose some Class 350s (all eventually) and have to move some 185s back onto the West Coast Scotland route, taken from capacity increase elsewhere.

Today alone, how many Newcastle trains cancelled, and Scarboroughs caped as well. Northern get all the flac, and TPE just go on letting passengers down quietly.

They must have found traincrew for that media fest!! Not without chaos for the paying public it would seem. Now there's a surprise.

Let's hope TPE can now keep the 4 diagrams going at least until the next change. Capacity wise a big help.

Fantastic. The cynic in me wants to say about time too, but I’m just going to be grateful that they’ve managed to get four out. Is this scheduled for all week do you know?

9E05 cancelled at Leeds this morning causes the Hull service to have severe overcrowding and left people at Stalybridge.

At least 09:25 Scouseland to Geordieland; not sure about any others.

I'd be quite interested in Saturday and Sunday diagrams for both this and Nova 3 - I'll be going to from Bletchley to York and back (via Manchester, it's more scenic and cheaper than other routes) at the weekend, out Sat and back Sun, and am very flexible on timings and will be using a split walk-up ticket valid at any time on those days.

(I'll check the Nova 3 thread for those, obviously).

Post #1 was updated a few weeks ago which includes Saturdays.
Otherwise Tiger will show if formed of 5 coaches. Liverpool, Huddersfield, Leeds, York +ECML stations all work.

Can you get to Man Vic for just before 10am? You'll stand a chance then.
