The 150s initially went through their C6 overhauls between 2015-2018 under ATW, a franchise that was co-managed by the DfT and Welsh Govt. In 2003 the franchise was wholly let by the DfT with no requirement for ATW to carry out PRM mods, despite the franchsie expiring just 15 months before the PRM deadline. So Welsh Govt cannot completely be blamed for the intransigence there was under the ATW franchise to do anything about the PRM deadline. That was the DfT's fault more than anything else, as they refused to stump up the cash for the PRM mods, despite it being their franchise.

But let's not let that stop Welsh Govt bashing, which is a favourite past-time of many posters on this forum.

On the other hand, why would the DfT pay to meet regulations which wouldn't have to be met until after their responsibility ended? For all it knew, the plan might have been to scrap all the 150s by the end of 2919, like the Pacers. Wasn't the WG line 'The new franchisee will sort it out'?

You're bashing them for refurbishing trains that are staying for another three years, but I guarantee you'd still be bashing them if they said the 150's are to stay in ATW colours until they go. The lion's share of the work has been done, changing seat covers and painting everything red won't take long

You “guarantee“, do you? Seeing as you don’t know me, I can guarantee you’re wrong.

It strikes me as waste of £several hundred thousand to do something that doesn’t need doing.

They are damned if they do and damned if they don’t.

It’s quite possible they may be around for longer than three years given that every new train that has been delivered to TOCs has been late.

Better to try and improve customer experience in the meantime.

12182-185 were moved from Crewe to Long Marston yesterday.

One of the Mark 3 DVTs has also arrived at Long Marston, but don’t know which one.

153 353 is at Landore and has had its PRM mod and new TfW W&B livery applied. This is the first of 5 Angel Trains 153's that are undergoing these mods at Landore. It is having some additional works completed and will soon be released back into traffic.

153 312 is also at Landore and was the second unit to undergo these mods. It had its graphics applied on Friday and subject to final testing, it should be released this week, possibly Tuesday and will go out in traffic with 153 303 coming in as unit 3 (tbc)

The other 2 of the 5 Angel units are 327 & 362 which will follow in due course.

158820 now painted TfW colours rather than vinyls. Refurbished units have large wheelchair logos at the top of the non-driving end doors of each coach. 819 still in ATW colours on the Cambrian Coast yesterday.

There was meant to be a 158 coming off Crewe depot last night going to Machynlleth, that had been planned all week. That got cancelled at the last minute, which may or may not have something to do with it.

Maybe that could be 158835 as thats the one currently in Crewe

153 327 will come to Landore on Monday for its PRM and repaint. The 4th of 5 Angel Trains units being so treated at Landore. 362 will complete the current programme.

Looks like 001 ran to Widnes and is coming straight back so doesnt seem anything went in.

Doesn't suit the 153s in my view. Maybe it'll go better on the 150s. 158s, 175s and 170s look okay. In fact I'm thinking the newer the stock the better it suits the livery unless the 150s look amazing.

175101 and 001 went to Widnes last night. 101 stayed there for refurb and 001 dragged 003 back to Chester. 003 broke while in Widnes and couldn't get back by itself.
