I will be very surprised if this stays open until October!
There is a plethora of information on these forums to find out about the entire application process. I suggest you use the search function or click on my name and look through some of my posts as I and many others have covered the subject numerous times.
They are looking for excellent customer service skills, safety conscious and willingness to be flexible to the needs of the business amongst a list of other things that can be found on this forum. Read the job description and answer each question in relation to it. Only pick your best examples to submit. The competition is fierce and only the highest calibre get through.
Be prepared the application process can take from 6 months to anything beyond that. Very rarely is it quicker. I am not sure where you are applying but the bunch along the North West Coast are brilliant with the managers always being helpful. (Was a guard for ATW before now being a trainee driver for TPE).
Good luck and if you have any specific questions I will try to help.
Think it was something like I’m over 21 I live within an hour of the chosen depot and one otherHi thanks Plodster ill take that into account
When I applied previously they said at the phone interview that as long as you lived within an hour of the depot on starting with then that was fine and proof of address would be needed at induction if that helpsWill they allow relocation ?
The last I heard it certainly was still the case that the tests were done at the end, after all the interviews rather then before as it is with most TOCsYep @Plodster is correct they do allow relocation. I moved from London back to my hometown of Holyhead and they were fine with it.
When they themselves did the recruitment they did do an interview before OPC assessments but it has been a few years and it could of changed. I'm not the best to answer this. Perhaps @craigybagel wouldn't mind answering about the sequence they carry out nowadays.
Pete87 I think you will get another link in a day or two from Acorn with a separate application form Don’t know but may be the questionnaire used in the previous round with an hour to completeHi guys
Applied for the Cardiff one last night through the Acorn link as instructed and it was literally just name address and attach your CV. Surely this isn’t right? I’d psyched myself up for 45 mins of questionnaires and judgement tests!
No time limit. It's questions with a box to fill in your answer like a normal application form.Hello everyone new to the group, applied for a trainee train driver last night and have had a reply this evening in regards to a 16 question application form from Acorn , any one done one yet and is it on a time limit to fill in . many thanks in advance
What’s the score with itThat seemed to be one of the more complicated applications I've done strangely. It wasn't what I was really expecting. Hopefully all goes well. It's nice to know things are moving again.
