It doesn't matter what industry you come from but your right they do prefer certain ones like armed forces, police etc. People start from all walks of life though. As you said if you show relevant experience, no matter where it comes from you will do well.

This would be my current issue, I am a freshman, in many ways. What I got is education, which is the level of the main high school degree + 3 years of specialisation in an area which is *really* unrelated to a position which includes managing yourself, being focused on extended periods of times or the such. Maybe I have an idea of what it is to face unplanned, stressful situations, and try my best to come up with solutions with a team but overall this was only done during my education.
I have no work experience whatsoever, and I am young, so it's highly possible I may come up as an issue due to the amount of skills a driver has to learn in a rather short amount of time.

Hi everyone, I need a little bit of advice.

basically I failed psychometric assessment in February this year and the 6 months period will be over on 10th of August..

I’m not sure wether I should wait couple of weeks and hope the advert doesn’t get taken down or should I just apply now?

Thanks

Applied yesterday for Llandudno Junction position but after having a think I will also apply for Chester. I'm within an hour of both but Junction is closer. So much info on this site. In order to help me with the whole process what should I be reading and practicing. I know about group bourbon test so will practice that.

I did the formal application yesterday but received no questionnaire people are talking about. Any ideas?

Hmmm ok. Hopefully Pavan from Acorn will see this and can confirm whether or not we should have received one.

When people are referring to questionnaire it is the same thing as the application. People have not been requested to do an application and then a questionnaire.

I wish people were more clear haha but I'm glad there's nothing else for now.

Hi Guys,

Hope you are all staying safe and are well.

You fill out a couple of basic questions then upload your CV.

You will then be sent a questionnaire of 16 questions. I assume this will be Thursdays because thats the day they seem to be progressing applications on.

Once you have done the 16 questions you should receive an email probably the Thursday after explaining that the applications are being reviewed.

By this point as explained by Pavan Acorn, it is a manual review and you will receive a yes or a no to next stage usually after two weeks however, this could be longer.

The above information is my own experience of the process thus far.

I had to rank things in order of importance for one of them. I don't know then, but I'm assuming we've all done the same one

Wait a sec, if you've only just sent it off to Acorn then you're right, it's just a confirmation email of CV acceptance. Then you'll get a link to the actual full app later on.

Hi Saxon,

I think Rachel T is right there. If you have only just sent off your CV first time you should receive a questionnaire very likely on Thursday. It will contain 16 questions.

For the sake of clarity and completeness:

Responded to initial job advert through Acorn by submitting CV

Then a day later received a link to complete the full application form which requested attachment of CV at the end

Notification from Acorn that says 'thank you. Your application is now completed and has been submitted for review. We will be in touch with an update on selection in 4-6 weeks'

Suggests to me there is no further task or a questionnaire.
Happy to be corrected on this

NB I feel the interchangable use of application form and questionnaire has caused a level of confusion in this process for many.

No the 16 questions are the application form.

We need to ban the use of the word 'questionnaire' in relation to this job as it's not applicable haha I was confused as to me, they're very different things but it kept being mentioned!

Hi mate You will get the link by e mail within a few working days
The questionnaire was from the last round advertised in March
This time it is an application form
16 question - many are name and basic medical stuff
What depot/s you are applying to
Why you want the job etc stuff
A couple of put these in order type questions then work history
Beware cut and paste and word count v character count on the free text questions

all the best with it
