Hi all I am planning a trip to Germany, what would be the best option via train from London to Dusseldorf/Cologne, and what would be the best site to book from? i am going around the 12th/13th for 3-4 days.
Please move if relevant in the fares section!!
thanks

Your best bet is through Deutsche Bahn UK's booking office or the Deutsche Bahn website. Looks like one way London Spezial tickets are available for 109 - 119€ for the 12th August. The quicker you book them more likely you will get a cheaper fare.

Good luck!

First of all, http://www.seat61.com/Germany.htm#London%20to%20Cologne%20by%20train is a really useful starting point.

Second, for Cologne it's also worth checking the Eurostar website. There are two train companies operating between Brussels and Cologne, one is German Railways (Deutsche Bahn), the other is Thalys which is largely French. They offer very similar fares for London-Cologne but on a different selection of trains.

The good news is, if you miss a connection in Brussels (it's an easy interchange, details on seat61 of course!), each operator is committed to accepting the other's tickets.
