The bus involved in this was a Stagecoach bus running dead back to depot after the night's duty on route N50, hence no passengers were on board at the time and the driver escaped unhurt.

"Motorists are being warned of severe delays after part of a road tunnel was closed until at least Friday after a bus was destroyed by fire.
The double-decker has been removed from the Limehouse Link Tunnel, east London. Engineers are assessing the damage but the eastbound section remains shut.
The driver escaped unhurt when the bus broke down burst into flames on Sunday.
Traffic is diverted from Tower Bridge and Lower Thames Street via Mansell Street and the Aldgate one-way system. Drivers have been warned to expect severe delays in the surrounding area and the nearby Blackwall Tunnel.
The westbound carriageway was reopened a few hours after the fire on Sunday morning. TfL said they hoped to reopen the eastbound section as soon as possible. The Limehouse Link Tunnel connects central London with the Docklands.
From the scene BBC reporter Anna O'Neil described how the intensity of the fire had caused the bus to melt into the road surface and said the road would have to be completely resurfaced.
London Fire Brigade said the bus was a short way into the tunnel when the driver pulled over and noticed smoke coming from the engine.
After getting out of his cab to take a closer look, the engine caught fire and the flames soon engulfed the entire vehicle."
