The DART railway passes under the main grandstand of Lansdowne Road Stadium in Dublin with the station adjacent to the entrance to the ground....

Lansdowne Road is not a dedicated Football Ground Station. Also that picture is nearly a decade old. The Grandstand shown has long since gone. Prime tenants at the Aviva are the IRFU not the FAI. Being a Leinster Rugby STH I use the Stadium a few times a year. Arrival at the Stadium is dependant on where you sit. I have to approach from Ringsend so the DART is of no use to me.

St Ives Town (Cornwall) is adjacent to Lelant Saltings Station and shares the Park & Ride Car Park!

Opened in 1950 and closed in 1967, Easter Road Park Halt existed purely to serve Hibernian FC's nearby ground. It was located on the North British Railway branch to Leith Central, and probably represented the last passenger traffic on that branch, which officially closed in 1952.

As a life long Derby fan (now aged 48) as far as I know Rams Line Halt was only used on one occasion for the visit of Forest in 1990. In principle the idea was a very good one but I dare say most Forest fans preferred to head straight to the city centre where they could drink and 'interact' with Derby fans.

I am an Aston Villa fan and I travelled on a football special for Villa fans that used Ramsline Halt. Although I cannot remember which year. And we still "interacted" with Derby fans if I remember correctly!!

As the OP, thanks for all the interesting replies, relating to the present as well as the past. khib70, I was particularly interested to hear of Easter Road Park Halt as I lived fairly near there as a student in the 70s and went to a few games. With the crowds the hibees attracted, it was probably worthwhile keeping the station and line open for match days but in St Johnstone's case with much smaller crowds, I wouldn't have thought Muirton Halt was viable, particularly as the location of the main station in Perth would only have been convenient for a small proportion of fans. I also think it unlikely it would have been used for away specials. At that time, the Line also served branches to Crieff and Aberdeen via Forfar, and there were also more stations open at the villages on the Inverness line, so I presume the main users were local fans from the small towns and villages of North and West Perthshire.

Not a dedicated station but Barkingside FC of the Isthmian League is next door to Barkingside Tube Station. There are a long disused exit and set of steps that lead down almost into one side of the football ground.

Well the game you attended won't have been a league game simply because in the season we got relegated we played the Villa before the station was opened. We got relegated in 1991 and didn't get promoted until the station had long since closed. The only game you could have attended with the station open was a evening League Cup game which would have been in around 1991 / 1992 as Ted McMinn was still playing for us.

In terms of being able to use Ramsline Halt and still 'interact' with Derby fans clearly shows that the idea of building a dedicated station was flawed, the whole point being to separate home and away fans. Clearly the Police escort was not effective that evening

That would make sense as I seem recall it was an evening game.
