So I was doing the Southern Daysave ticket last week and I had to stop by my namesake station of Lancing, which got me thinking, is there any other stations that is named after you, or any stations named after people?

Patron saints (St Johns) and random street name stations (James Street) comes in to mind, I know my namesake station is called Lancing but my name is Lance with no "ing", but that's close enough so that sorta counts, but is there any others anyone can think of?

There will be quite a few - the first which springs to mind is Barry but you also have Stirling (as in Stirling Moss).

Waterloo as in the Duke. Victoria after the Queen. Accrington (Stanley)? That last one is pushing it.

Many years ago there was a question on Brain of Britain (I think it was half-way through when all four contestants work together to answer two questions sent in by a listener) that asked about Gordon Hill, Miles Platting, Harold Wood and Colin Dale. (The last might have been Bruce Grove.)

There is a conservative American politician, and former military officer, called Allen West.

I suspect Allens West is not named after him

Gordon Hill... although my surname is not Hill.

THere was a famous footballer called Gordon Hill.

Ive often wondered if there is anyone named Rick Mansworth

Others that spring to mind are the various stations beginning with Ken and Mark, plus another ‘first name and surname’ one is Johnstone!

And then there’s another ‘double one’ at Basildon, Warren Street on the Underground and that well known Irish/French combination of Micklefield!

Sadly there is no Jacqueline station but how about St Werburghs road? (Albeit tram, not heavy rail)
