Are there many places where there is no train service between two adjacent stations? The example I'm thinking of is Bristol Parkway and Patchway. There must be others...
Not sure this meets the definition of the thread title, as these two stations are on separate lines.Catford and Catford Bridge.
Warrington QB and Acton Bridge
I wouldn't consider Barnetby and Ulceby to be adjacent. Barnetby is on the North Lincolnshire version of a main line while Ulceby is on the branch to Barton on Humber. A train travelling from Grimsby towards Barnetby does not pass through Ulceby as the Barton branch turns off before Barnetby. Last time I used the Barton branch was when I ran away from home at the age of 9 and travelled to the (then) end of the branch but was too scared to get on the ferryHow are you judging this? Would Saxilby and Hykeham, Barnetby and ulceby
There are some peak time Northern services between Wigan and Liverpool that call at all stations via Newton le willows though. (07.03 and 08.06 from Wigan and 18.00 from Liverpool).Newton Le Willows-Wigan North Western, there's a couple of trains that go Liverpool-Glasgow via St Helens Junction & Wigan North Western but don't stop at Newton Le Willows
Is there not a west to north connection between Barnetby and Ulceby?I wouldn't consider Barnetby and Ulceby to be adjacent. Barnetby is on the North Lincolnshire version of a main line while Ulceby is on the branch to Barton on Humber. I can similarly think of a couple of places in the area round Manchester where there are very few services between a pair of adjacent stations on a passenger route, sadly they don't quite qualify for no service at all.Probably one of the more high profile ones is Bedwyn and Pewsey on the Reading-Taunton (B&H) line. A very small number do serve both, but most of the time Bedwyn is the terminus for local services from London and Pewsey (can change here for Marlborough) is served by long distance services further west to/from London.
