"Welcome to london dear tourists, as you see, we in England still live in the middle ages, because everyone has a day off here during X-mas".

So very true. Trains used to run for a few hours on Christmas day, but that's a thing of the past now. There was an interesting discussion about this on District Dave's LU Forum which may be of interest.

What :!: :!: :!: :!:

You realy mean there are NO services?

"Welcome to london dear tourists, as you see, we in England still live in the middle ages, because everyone has a day off here during X-mas".

Why not operate a Double sunday service (1 train per 15 minutes or so)???

Well, why would you need to go out at Christmas? All the shops are closed!?

Besides, you shouldn't need to go out at christmas. You should be at any your destination the day before, say, if your visiting family, and you should have enough turkey to last until the day after boxing day, AT LEAST!! :P

Traffic is reduced sufficiently on Christmas Day that it merits no service on this day.

I believe certain workers with the tube, such as TOs are on standby during Christmas Day in case of a signal failure on this day (yes, they'll fix it on the 25th).
