There are a few spots that I know of and all of them are west of Haydon
Bridge. The first is actually at Haydon Bridge Station where you will see:
142, 156, 60, 66, and rarely: 43, 37, 20, 47, 57, and steam tours. All of
these can be seen all a long the TVL. The next one along is just under the
new by-pass bridge at Haydon Bridge. When coming out of Haydon Bridge
westbound, there will be gate in the left hand side turn down there and
enjoy. I havent been there personnally but I will tell you when I have.

The next place is a small lay-by going westbound on the A69 just west of HB.

Then the next best place is the small overbridge just before Ridley Hall.
Turn left of the A69 and go straight on till you get there.

The next place is from the crossing just east Of Bardon Mill station. Go
into Bardon Mill till you get to the Bowes Pub heading west and turn left
down a small road, signposted the station. Then walk along the platform
through the gate at the end of the platform and its straight ahead but you
will have to cross to get the better view.

The next place is Bardon Mill Station, same as above.

The next place would be the crossing just west of Bardon Mill Station, drive
through Bardon Mill westbound and when you reach the end you can either go
onto the A69 or turn left, turn left, go past the school and church and just
after the bus stop on your right park there and walk, turn down a little mud
track till you get to the crossing.

The next place is down by the river just past Hard Riding Farm. To get there
you will have to use the road you used to get to the small crossing but
without turning down by the church. Carry on until you come down a hill and
will hit a sharp right hand bend and there will be a little rise, where you
will have to turn left through a gate, unfortunatley you cannot drive
through the farm so you will have to park at the side of he track and walk.
You will go under the railway and follow the footpath signs and you will end
up in a field where you can see the railway on the embankment. But you wont
be able to see the trains coming or going from the west.

The next place is probably my favourite place and it is the small lane down
to Greengates Lane Crossing where the old coal loader used to be. To get
here go along the A69 and turn into Melkridge(signposted) turn right next to
the green, then as you go along, just past the farm there will be a left
turn down a small lane now you will go under the railway where there is a
gate just past the bridge you can go in that field and can go up on the
stone embankment and can see the crossing, this location is alright, but you
could carry on up the lane and can park up at the end of the lne right next to the crossing. This is where you will normally find me, youll know its me because the trusty black push bike will be learnt up against the fence so say hello.

The next place is the last place I know of. Carry on along the road out of Melkridge and you will come into a place called Witchester. Just as you come round the corner towards the walled house you will see a gate under the tree on the left hand side of the road. Park next it and walk down the mud track making sure you bear to the left. You will then be able to see that you are next too the only tunnel on the whole TVL.

I hope that this is of help, if any of you have anything else to add be sure to speak up.

Also as I write this I have heard that the ECML has been nationalised, BR lives on!:o:o:o:roll:
