    Agreed, that video is great!

I am not aware of the plan to bring in waste stone, though.

I was under the impression that they were supplying stone to elsewhere, one name which was muted was for Hinckley.

I got the info about the waste from one of the comments under the video, my apologies if it's incorrect.
Note: The video is not my production, this is the work of the uploader mentioned in the notes of the video.

All this area has been controlled by Didcot TVSC since about March this year, Parkway a bit earlier than that. Sorry don't have actual dates.

The Charfield lines, which include the various Yate Junctions came under TVSC Stoke Gifford control in Feb 2017.

The latest date for traffic to grace the branch is October 2017, we're being briefed about the new working instructions shortly.

Been for a nosey this evening.

The former Grovesend headshunt which runs from roughly 6M 03C at the Grovesend Overbridge to the portal of Grovesend Tunnel at the A38 has been cleared of all vegetation. (Of which there was a lot!)

It has revealed a rustic set of red buffers still in situ right at the end, I can only assume they are planning to use this infrastructure as the Network Rail boundary ends where you can see the sleeper chained to the tracks - some distance from the current end of the line.

The last time i saw a train backed up to the buffers was in the early/mid 80's, even then it wasnt right up there or is that down, it was a class 33 with seacow type hoppers it went in via the loop then backed the train under the loader, well half or it then ran round and finished loading, from memory it was class 33 sir mount batten of Burma.

Very interesting pictures, thank you. That's a lot if vegetation removed, a few weeks ago it would have been difficult to see that there was a railway underneath, so a huge amount of work has been undertaken- next developments awaited with interest!

    Great pictures.
I assume the trackbed has been built up over the years as, having also had a nosey over the A38 bridge parapet today, the rails are only just below the level of the carriageway.
Unless they do a lot of digging out as well, I can't see the rails returning to Thornbury any time soon - unless this would be the site of a proposed Thornbury 'Parkway' station. I guess with level track and direct access to the A38, it would be the cheapest of any options - excluding the small matter of upgrading the permanent way to passenger standards.

Network Rail engineers were present at Latteridge level crossing yesterday, he told me they have been instructed to check the operation of all the crossings on the line as they are under pressure from Hanson to get the trains running.

Hi there. I have lived on Station Lane in Tytherington for almost 2 years with an interest in future plans for the line. My house is opposite the line. Have walked the tracks a few times and seems to be in good shape.

Last Summer they ran a machine along to cut back the trees, but then no activity that I saw.

Over the past couple of weeks there have been more machine cutting trees and a lot of workers on the tracks, and I’ve just watched another type of machine run on the tracks at half past midnight, unsure what it was doing. They seem to be performing work further down the line towards Iton Acton, I can see the lights in the distance.

Work scheduled to the bridges in Tytherington on 6th November.

Would be really interested to know of any info as to future plans.

    Hi Dungey140,

Thanks for the update regarding machinery on the line. Strange that they would do it at night on a disused line?

I live in Thornbury and have been watching their on going works for the last couple of years, I noticed both the Iron Acton Bypass and Latteridge level crossings have been upgraded, presumably at a serious cost!

    Hi,
I live next door to the line in Iron Acton and we were surprised as well when they worked through the night digging holes in the crossing - although luckily we were not close enough to be disturbed. We were amused by their letter stating that due to health and safety they had to work when no trains were running........ Yesterday they replaced the broken sleepers so things look imminent.

Trains are supposed to be starting in a couple of weeks, after the Filton four tracking is complete.

    Hi tgrubb.

Do you have any photos of the works, or a copy of the letter at all?

I do find this very odd that they would do the works at night, especially during the engineering blockade at Filton Bank - you would have thought it was all hands on deck with that project.

That is great news, do we know routes/frequency?

    Hi,
No photos - they are just replacing the rotten wooden sleepers at the moment. The night working was on the crossing on Station Road which although definately not busy might be more of the reason for night working. I didn't keep the letter but it seemed to be just a standard work letter given to residents - it wasn't even personalised.

Things have changed since the days of British Rail where all engineers were railway employees and could be moved from job to job with ease. Today the work on Filton Four Tracking will be let to a specific set of Contracts (Civils, trackwork, signalling etc.), with Tytherington branch work being a totally separate Contract.

    Thanks for that.

According to "realtimetrains" there is to be another locomotive heading down to Tytherington tomorrow morning.

I wonder if anybody got any pictures or video?

I was at work, absolutely gutted to have missed it.

According to real-time trains it is back in the schedules from Wednesday onwards, but only in one direction!
Large fire at Tytherington last night!

I can't see anything in RTT for this week, other than the (speculative) DCR path...?

That'll be a Freightliner loco and not Colas.

    Good point well put!!

Been looking on RTT and it seems for the next week or so there is a daily in and out - interestingly not to and back the same place though, but always to to same place and alway from the same place.

Chucked in between that there are a few departures heading to DC Rail sidings, but no corresponding inbound movements....!

I saw on both Rail Record and RTT that DCR have a schedule for 6M58 Tytherington to Willesden DC Rail Sdgs SSuX from 25/5/19 to 13/12/19 for what appears, at 600 tons, to be an empty rake but with no corresponding schedule into Tytherington

Any updates at all as to what's happening down there?

    Thanks

Three/four trains a week are running from Tytherington to Appleford, operated by Freightliner.
