Just four successive 1-0 wins away from an unlikely England tournament victory!

(To be fair, that comment also applies to any of the other teams through to the "Round of 16").

Which would be four (or indeed seven) more victories than the current champions managed five years ago. ;)

I suppose not many teams win a group of four by only scoring two goals in their three matches played.

Goals seem to be England's biggest problem at the moment.

Who in the squad could credibly replace Kane ?

Agreed. And that was sort of my point: Scotland have had far better teams in the past and got no further than the group stage, even with the names I mentioned or, indeed, the 1967 European Cup winning team.

Were just warming up to win The Next World Cup....

Only the small matter of qualification to surmount

Nah we win penalty shootouts these days, hadn’t you heard?

This feels like standing on top of a hill in flip flops during a thunderstorm whilst holding up a lightning conductor and shouting “COME ON THEN!!”

How come BBC have got the wonderful Gaby Logan presenting, Sparky and 2 Black Guys but no Dane.

Couldn't they get one of the Schmeichels (Senior or Junior).

Is Robbie Savage a tool or what !!!

Kaspar is probably a little busy playing today to pundit…
Neither the BBC nor ITV have seemed particularly bothered with representation of the countries involved in the match. They’ve got a few pundits like Cesc Fabregas and Patrick Vieira they wheel out to provide a more diverse viewpoint.

Doh....

And Jurgen Klinsmann he's very articulate - my favourite foreigner.

Also a Top Class Player and Manager.

Isn't it great Sky and Bt Sport et al are excluded, just like the old days. Do they point out where you can watch the matches ?

He seems to be quite disliked, and I get why- he sometimes comes across as a bit of a moron who doesn't always engage his brain before opening his mouth... but his passion (particularly when covering Wales) is quite infectious, even endearing in small doses!

The Dutch have the UK on their naughty list, so I don’t think there will be many Welsh there who weren’t in the country already.

Good, then it's 2 down 1 to go.

What on earth do you mean by that statement?

Think that @75A meant to say (at the time of posting) that there was 15 minutes to go.

Have to say that seemed a harsh red card

Perhaps, but UEFA referees now tend to take a very dim view of "tackling" (i.e. fouling) an opponent from behind; ever since the likes of Marco van Basten had his career cut short by similar tactics.

No what 75A meant was:
2 down - Scotland & Wales out
1 to go, just England to lose, before normality returns to the mainland.

Thought you meant that. Feel free to contribute to any of the other many threads on the forum if this one doesn’t interest you.

Expected Italy to rack up a cricket score against Austria... seems they've reverted to type and are flattering to deceive as usual. Austria have come closest to breaking the deadlock in the second half, with only a very tight but correct offside flag ruling out a goal from Arnautovic.

Italy will probably grab a late winner on 89 or 119 minutes, denying us the drama and spectacle of a penalty shoot-out.
