Four of these archaic early Midland locos survived beyond the LMS and were even considered valuable enough to gain BR livery. Rated 2F, but latterly downgraded 1F. Considered useful for shunting where more water and coal than a Tank could carry was needed, and the near absence of a cab helped visibility (in the dry!)
