Is it just me or compared to national rail services is pretty much all the underground stock and stations incredibly clean? Is there a stricter cleaning regime on the underground?
TFL have a brought in contractors since 2017 they have 2,800 people that clean station and trains ABM UK have a five year contract. They do a very impressive job. Big budget and large workforce is the difference.
It wasn't always so, particularly on the tube lines in the central area. The disastrous Kings Cross fire of 1987 threw up the lack of proper cleaning and a generally lackadaisical approach in the name of 'cost saving'. Things had to change, and they have, but TfL's more recent budgetary problems may bring this into focus once again in future unless lessons have TRULY been learned.
