Spares availability for 86501 finally condemned it to be converted back to 86608.

Rubbish - these are 40+ years old machines with out of date life expired electrical equipment. Spares availability must be "interesting" to say the least

Quite impressive then isn't it, that there is still a market overseas for ex-BR locomotives.

There's no specific spares for 501. It has the same motors as the 86/6, only the gearing was different. It was converted back so as to run a standard fleet.

Just for confirmation, the 3 86's you saw being dragged were 86701, 86213 & 86702

Was gonna go Narborough station for a picture but then it started to blooming snow!!!, so I guess I will have to wait and see the pictures on Flickr!.

Anyone know there next move off Leicester and when?!

I managed to catch a video. I will upload to YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzQ5DqLQLjM

I thought 86701 was next in line for re-activation for Sleeper contracts?

Keep up at the back.

86701/702/213 plus three Europheonix machines went on a boat about a month ago. A lot of folk made assumptions about the sleepers.
