Unusual working at Newcastle this morning

Train 0E14 from Millerhill to Doncaster stopped at Newcastle this morning as expected, but was delayed at the platform as the trailing locomotive of the three, 66706 "Nene Valley", was uncoupled and then ran back to Craigentinny as 0Z14. That uncoupling was most unexpected!

Does anyone know what the story is? Thanks

66706 must have been called back to cover for a ahortage 73s for cal sleeper operations
