Good evening.
Is there something I can use with ease that tells me a list of services from a given station and what stations and times that train calls at?
Namely metro North in New York and NYC subway if there's realtime updates?
Thanks

Not really, I'd say google maps is your best bet, giving realtime updates, but not in the detail of RTT.

The page takes you to various free and paid subway and commuter rail apps serving the New York region and beyond: http://web.mta.info/apps/

This is the "official" MTA portal for real time subway information:
http://subwaytime.mta.info/

This is the "official" LIRR app:
http://web.mta.info/lirr/traintimeapp/

And the "official" Metro-North app:
http://web.mta.info/mnr/html/traintimeapp.htm

And for those who miss the "clack, clack, clack" of the classic Solari board, head on over here:
http://www.dixielandsoftware.net/Amtrak/solari/

Type in a 3 letter station code, and you'll get real time Amtrak train arrival information.

New York Penn Station = NYP
Washington DC = WAS

Enjoy!

The freight operators tend to be relatively secret about their operations, both out of security concerns and concerns about business data.
