Using NR tickets on tube

Morning.

I've been wondering for a while whether there is a cheaper way for me cross London using my ATOC staff discount (or more specifically my wife as I have a TFL priv).

When I use St James Street station and head to destinations Liverpool Street/Stratford etc we always get a priv ticket on that route for my wife as it's cheaper than using PAYG. I also buy one myself when I need to break a journey at Hackney Downs and then continue to Liverpool Street.

However, i've been wondering whether the same thing can be done from Blackhorse Road? I noticed on BR fares for example there is no NR fare to London Victoria and that I would have to pay TFL fares but what about if I extended a ticket through to somewhere like Balham? I could reasonably be expected to change trains at Victoria so could I just end my journey there anyway? And assuming I could, what other zone 1 stations could I do this at?

Finally, assuming any of this is possible then how does one go about buying a NR ticket at a tube station without the ability to buy a priv ticket at them? Blackhorse Road for example does not have this option...

None of this might be possible anyway im just wondering about if I can get the magical maltese cross on some priv tickets and save money!

I don't quite understand. Does your wife not have the same entitlements as you?

You can now get the Priv discount added to an Oyster card so for a journey like St James St - Liverpool St a paper ticket is £1.10 while Oyster would be 85p peak / 70p off-peak.

For journeys across London, yes you can buy a ticket for Blackhorse Road to Battersea Park and then stop short at Victoria.

Correct. There is no longer a nominee allowed with PTAC at my TOC.

Greatkingkat - thank you do the info. How does this work by getting the priv added to an Oyster card for a NR journey like SJS - LST (what am I asking for at the ticket office basically!)

As suspected I could use a BHO - Battersea Park ticket.cross London then, but again how does this work when BHO doesn't have NR ticketing facilities?
