4L02 Hams Hall-Felixstowe sadly appears to have struck a vehicle at Thorpe Lane AHB which is close to Trimley. All passenger services are suspended until at least 16:00. No further details just yet.

Thankfully confirmed that nobody has been seriously injured. Freight being held as far back as Doncaster awaiting estimate of line reopening. Relief GBRf driver enroute.

The car driver was lucky, the train would have been slowing for approach released CO619.

Indeed, or if the freight train was heading to the south terminal, would have been doing a fare rate of knots.

As GB states, Driver (car!) has been arrested for 'numerous offences' also had an altercation with a cyclist a bit earlier, seems there was also a witness who confirmed the crossing working correctly.

I hope that is inaccurate. The Police and other authorities were very quick to hand back the scene which isn't usually the case during a fatal, life threatening, or life changing accident.

Thank <insert your favourite deity's name here> for multiple news sources. According to the Ipswich Star "Both [the driver] and the young girl were taken to hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing."

Yes orginal report said serious, but later reports have said as you have written, 1505: Train being attempted to draw forward (slowly) to just clear of the crossing, so damage can be assessed.

The Ipswich Star link posted up-thread was updated (at 14.56) to include more pictures.
It is very disappointing that this (short) branch has suffered another level crossing incident, whatever the reason ultimately attributed.
The level crossing is due to be upgraded to full barriers with OD as part of the current 'Trimley loop' project. It is also within the area where crossings will be closed as part of the further level crossings project for which the TWAO Public Inquiry was held earlier this year (outcome awaited).
Assuming that the crossing closures go ahead as planned this crossing will remain.

Of course its not the fault of the line, nor the crossings, it is the moronic car drivers ignoring the warning lights / yodels that cause the hassle for everyone, AND.... to zig zag and ignore red lights with a baby in the car !!! ?
