Today's class 20 hauled Tyseley to Skegness railtour has thus far met with significant delay at Nuneaton following paperwork issues in the supply chain that were noticed after departure. Let's hope its resolved. Seen similar things in the past and they reflect badly on the industry as a whole.

Just over 2 hours late now with those at Leicester and East Midlands Parkway stuck awaiting the arrival still.

Oh dear, that must be a frustrating day.

I feel for anyone who has booked advance tickets on the real railway to get home from the tour.

Surely it will terminate short with that delay though?

Running 103 late right now at Aslockton and if the forecast on RTT is correct is likely to be 90 late at Skegness (1410). Tour is booked back off Skegness at 1825 so will still get four hours on the coast, although suggested elsewhere its also now limited to 50mph due wheelflats on one of the 20s

The arrival time will be a matter of guesswork depending on how lucky the train is with the single line sections - there will still be plenty of time in Skegness regardless (some would say 5 minutes is 5 minutes too long!) and the 50 restriction won't make much difference to timings either, the train has a very slow path indeed in both directions and north/east of Allington the max speed is only 60 anyway.

Most unfortunate folks are the ones who had 2 hour waits at Leicester and East Mids Pway but at least they're on the way now.

I have just messaged the travelling fitter on the train and he tells me he is not aware of any wheelflat issues

Not to mention the photographer at Bingham who went out two hours early for it, trespassed, and got a good telling off (See, it's not just Scotsman fans ;))

227's to be inspected at Skegness to see if it's fit to return. I wasn't aware of it being wheelflats but it's certainly triggered something axle related.

Initial cause of delay at Nuneaton was it being discovered at Vintage Trains' control agreement with DBC had recently ended, and they hadn't any other in place, with DBC unwilling to temporarily extend it (Something acrimonious there?). ROG eventually stepped in to allow the train to go forward.

Set off Thurmaston Wheel Impact Load Detector (WILD) near Syston, 50 mph restriction.

Silly old fool near Bingham kept being told to go away and kept coming back so eventually BTP removed him.

72 late Skegness. Still ample break for most but the stress in the morning will have been remembered by some. Well done to ROG, their former control partner, for stepping in to alleviate the embarrassment and avoid some of the public being alienated by the morning's events.
