Last couple of weeks I've noticed 2 221's joining in Chester to form 1435 to EUS, both come in within 5 mins, both from Crewe/ Man. end, is one stabled elsewhere and run in to meet an ex- EUS service?

The 1312 terminator hangs around in P1 for an hour until the 1412 arrives in P3 (the 1335 departure coming from Bangor).
Then the first train shunts out down the Crewe line and then back to P3 to join up with the second.
They then form the 1435 departure (which comes back as 1710 ex Euston).

Earlier in the day the 1135 departure is formed from an ECS arrival from Central Rivers after the 1112 (0910 ex Euston) has gone west.

The movements are all in here:

OK, thanks, didnt the services used to depart from P1 with a single 221 though?

Yes, single 221s normally go from P1, but they join/split in P3 and sometimes P4.
I'm always impressed by the speed of the join/split operation compared to loco/coaches and the 57/390 charade.

Sorry to go a bit OT, but how busy on a Sat is the 1710 Euston-Chester usually? Cheers :)
