Maybe but it will identical to my 40 shot! Hmmm.
That's a nice shot but it's pretty generic, it could have been taken anywhere. If it was me I'd be looking for a shot that showed that it was somewhere in Devon or Cornwall and would probably do somewhere on the sea wall for the outward and maybe this for the return.

Driver training runs may not have gone beyond Plymouth? Anyway whats all the excitment about a rancid ronnie on a tour-not as though 57s are rare down there!
Both South Devon and Bodmin have galas of some description-surely more interesting

ACTUALLY, there's 2 down here at the mo, 302 & 303, in Laira depot. Not sure why, but they were mentioned by Julian yesterday. AFAIK there's always 1 down here out of sight anyway providing 1 is available, as a usual Thunderbird loco for the Voyagers. Now autumn & winter is setting in, things can get a bit hairy for the Voyagers along the coast at Dawlish & Teignmouth because of the weather. Even though the Voyagers have had modifications, it hasn't eradicated the problem as such, just makes it easier for them to be moved until help can be found.

Btw, the reason for all the fuss down here is because us folk don't get many railtours coming down here, not unlike places up north where it's more or less a regular occurrence every week. When they do come down here, it's something to look forward to. And no, 57's are not rare down here like u say, as we've got our own for use on the sleepers, providing your prepared to either get up before the crack of dawn, or last thing at night. If your lucky to see one during the day, it's either on a stock or light movement, or on rescue duties, but not often.

57s are at LA due to the high tides at Dawlish. Virgin thought the vomits might fail! And Rich, Cockwood Harbour is for afternoon sun :p. I think i might go to Tontes, the sun is right at this time of year.

VT class 57/3s have NEVER been to Cornwall. Driver training was between Newton Abbot and Plymouth. So surely the place to go for a 'rare' picture would be Cornwall!!

As soon as you cross the Saltash Bridge heading west.. THEN you are in Cornwall. Is that correct Nat?

I agree with 87015.. PT could have found a far more appetising loco for haulage than a VT57/3....

Basically, once you've crossed the bridge, Saltash station is immediately after it, & a sign is on the platform welcoming you to the first station in Cornwall.

With some funny language on it ;)

Same applies to the road bridge. Good to know this forum is more SW orientated nowadays ;)

Yup once you are over the bridge you are in Kernow. Try here for help with the Cornish language http://www.geocities.com/mollethi/ lol

If you do ventre into our country for the Virgin 57/3 remember its the Bodmin and Wenford Diesel Gala this Sat/Sun with 20166, 33110, 50042 and of course the BEAST of BODMIN 50042. 50042 is making its first appearance in its newly applied standard BR blue, I'll be there helping drink the real ale and not worrying about some GM (Genetically modified) class 57.

N

Oh, how could I forget also 37142 at Bodmin, thats LOUD!!!
