The VTEC site says that their seat selector is currently suspended for technical reasons, but given that from a user's perspective it was working well enough, and given that the suspension seems to have lasted for a week or so already, is it reasonable to fear that the suspension will become permanent?

If so, that would remove one of the main remaining reasons for booking through the VTEC website. Indeed, if one is cynical, one might think that the introduction of free wifi for standard-class VTEC journeys booked on the VTEC website was introduced to compensate for the effects of the disappearance of the seat selector.

The seat selector is undergoing maintenance, and I understand that it will be returning. As for the free wi-fi, I believe that your cynicism is misplaced.

That's good news, and I am glad that I didn't actually succumb to cynicism but merely contemplated what cynicism might look like in the particular circumstances.

I tweeted them when I noticed trying to book some tickets, it's in the middle of being fixed, should be back at some point in the next few days hopefully. To be honest, I'm not sure it's ever worked properly - I've come across a few bugs using it myself, and I'm sure I've seen others mentioned here.
