It's the original red and white livery that was introduced in 2001, only four Class 390s are left in this livery, plus 19 Class 221s.
I think 390153 is now in paintshop (but not confirmed).

When 390153 , the last of the original order, comes out re-painted then it's 4 left, until then it's 5 still in original Virgin Pendolino livery.

Saw 2 of the 4 in service on saturday

All 390s will be re-painted before the end of December for sure, so get your photo's now. Not a clue what there going to do with the Class 221 fleet, FT mention a refresh. They look very shabby on the exterior apart from 101.

At least one Pendo was still in silver last Friday when it went past Heaton Norris Junction on the 16:55 Piccadilly to Euston

there’s still at least 3 out. I’m presuming 154 is in with 155-157 still silver.

I’ve noticed one of the 221s are going around in the Red and Silver but without the Virgin branding on the side, but still retaining the shield. Can anyone confirm what one this is?

221106 I think. I photographed it the other day, but completely failed to notice it was missing its Virgin branding until I looked back at it a minute ago.

Any chance you could post a photo?

390153 also in blank unbranded livery, currently working 1S50 1020 Birmingham New Street to Edinburgh. Latest one out of Widnes.

I think this is the one working 9A53 1158 Lancaster to London Euston just now. Appeared to have no Virgin logo on the side. But still had the Red and silver colours.

If the Virgin Trains logo has been removed but the colour remains, is this maybe a sign that it won’t be reliveried before the start of the new franchise?

Let's see if this works..

The first image should show 221106 leaving Milton Keynes, the second should be a slightly blurry photo of the same but with a better view of where the "Virgin" used to be, and the third shows 221106 next to a blank 390001 for good measure.

Thanks for those photos.
I'm amazed it's still got the Virgin shield on it's front.
Does look like either Virgin or First Trenitalia want to eradicate the Virgin name by the 08th December 2019.

Probably the cleanest looking Class 221 in a while as well.

I suspect it’s more likely that Virgin don’t want their brand anywhere near it by then..! I’ve never known a TOC go to so much effort in advance of a changeover (even to the extent of replacing the jackets with generic grey ones).

As a comparison, when Govia took over FCC the extent of Firsts debranding was running around with blue and white tape covering logos up - many of which remain today.

I believe 221106 used to have the 'No.6 Festival' branding which used to cover where the Virgin logos would've been. And with the No.6 Festival branding now removed, it's now just the plain red/silver livery left (seeing as they won't be re-adding any Virgin logos anytime soon).
