Virgin WC anytime tickets for free weekend first

Standard Class Anytime Single/Return tickets

Customers travelling on Anytime Single or Return tickets on a Saturday, Sunday or Bank Holiday can upgrade to First Class accommodation on Virgin Trains West Coast services and receive the full complimentary on-board service offer free of charge. This includes all Railcard and Privilege discounted Anytime tickets.

Shame VTEC don't offer this! It is a cheap way to get First Class though if you are a PRIV holder and don't have a railcard to get cheap advances for that! Though with the (Super) Off-Peak tickets getting PRIV discount nowadays it's probably rare for staff to use Anytime tickets, especially at Weekends when the cheaper variants are always valid anyway!

On weekends and Bank Holidays, upgrades to First Class on Virgin Trains is free of charge if holding a Standard Class Anytime ticket by approaching the Train Manager.

NRE agrees with the added caveat of approaching the Train Manager.
