It seems that Virgin Trains is pulling out all the stops (or should that be, adding additional stops on e.g. the 16:30 Euston to Glasgow) for the London to Scotland market, with a concomitant array of misleading advertising:

The train passenger isn't departing Euston until at least 08:30 (the clock in the Euston lounge at 00:30 says 07:40), so isn't arriving into Glasgow until at least 13:00. While the plane passenger has to be up at 05:30 (00:04) to arrive in central Glasgow
after the train passenger? Seriously? There's a 09:55 British Airways departure from Heathrow which arrives in Glasgow at 11:25. That gives plenty of time to leave home later than the train passenger and arrive in central Glasgow earlier than the train passenger!
Virgin Trains first class compared with airline economy class. Are the fares comparable, by any chance? A first class Advance single fare for the 08:30 Euston to Glasgow is £163 even when booking 12 weeks ahead.
Note the coffee in a china cup at 00:29 and 00:37. That machine which serves coffee in those cups has been out of action (or the lounge staff go out of their way to suggest that it is out of action
) for months.

Gone back to the magical coffee machine, have we (00:04)?
Train passenger's seat reservation is J12 (00:24). That's a backward facing isle seat on a table of four. As an isle seat it won't have a plug socket.

Oh look, the train passenger is sat in a forward facing seat at a table of two (00:05), which of course has a plug socket (00:37). What luck! Also, unless the passenger is sat in Coach G (which is only available on 11 car trains), that table of two is reserved for Traveller members. How reassuring to know that you can be kicked out of your seat at any moment. Back to the aisle seat at the table of four it is! Without the plug socket...
Crying babies (00:41). No chance of that on the train, of course. After all, Virgin Trains West Coast got rid of the first class quiet zone months ago.
"Sandwich looks... appetising" (00:22). That made me laugh. The sandwiches Virgin Trains West Coast serve from 10:30 onwards are no better.
At least they didn't attempt to make the grill (which is not a full English) look any larger than it actually is (00:19).

I'm slightly surprised that these ads are focusing on the Euston to Glasgow market when the difficulties are supposedly with the Kings Cross to Edinburgh market.
