Not really noticed before but the joins on the VTEC vinyls look very obvious and unsightly when compared to most other vinyl livery applications.

Can't say I've noticed and I do travel on VTEC way too much! Is it on a particular set or have you noticed it on many?

My only criticism is it seems to attract a lot of dirt which I never noticed on the EC dull grey or the smart dark blue of GNER.

I've noticed that the 'flashy' front of the HSTs are starting to look rather scruffy already. Didn't take long unfortunately, but what do you expect when it's style over practicality these days?

I don't like the livery (and it hasn't grown on me) - but I haven't noticed any lower standard of application.

They'd have looked nicer in VWC silver with grey doors.

Is the liklihood that, in the event Virgin succeed with the next ICWC franchise bid, the WC fleet will be reliveried into VTEC colours?

I doubt it personally, though I wouldn't put it past them to use the Inter City Railways consortium (Stagecoach 90:10 Virgin) rather than Virgin Rail Group (Virgin 51:49 Stagecoach) to bid for InterCity West Coast, probably cause it's cheaper for Virgin and for their brand. I don't think the Pendolinos and Super Voyagers would be suitable for the VTEC livery application anyway, and they have to have some sort of look that distinguishes them from trains operated by what is essentially a separate company.

The IEP shots on their website show it in an adapted West Coast livery

I wouldn't have said that, the IEP pics have the Virgin logo with a red background and white text where west coast has the Virgin logo red text on a silver background.

As for the current liveries. I don't think the VTEC livery would look right on a more modern set, just as I don't think the VTWC logo would look right on the East Coast set (the Pretendolino looked odd).
