I'm writing a book of walks on the Essex coast which where possible will start and end at railway stations.

One of the walks is Walton-on-the-Naze to Clacton and I will suggest that if not using the train for their whole journey, people park at Thorpe-le-Soken.

On occasions I've booked a return to Walton-on-the-Naze and been allowed through the barrier at Clacton with the return ticket, even though this is a different station and line.

Does anyone know whether this is officially allowed as if so I will say so in the book?
