Was I sold the correct ticket?

I asked for a 'Boundary Zone 6' ticket with Senior Railcard discount at Gatwick yesterday. When I examined the ticket on the train it was Gatwick -Croydon Stations cost £3.45.
Was this the correct ticket?

Sorry should have added that I have a London freedom pass (valid for rail ravel zones 1-6)

If the OP is a pensioner and resident in London, would a freedom pass suffice after 9.30 am?

They appear to be the same price. The Freedom Pass is treated as a season ticket (can someone check iKB for the current wording please?) within Zones 1-6 (or 1-9? The difference is not relevant for this journey) and therefore the combination should be valid with no requirement for the train to call at any intermediate station.

Gatwick Airport to Boundary Zone 6 SDS is £3.45, so whilst you technically didn't get the ticket you asked for, you paid the same price. Providing your Freedom Pass is classed as a season then you were doubly covered between Zone 6 and Zone 5 (East Croydon).

It's irritating though, not to be sold what you ask for. I've had the same problem at Gatwick ticket office in the past and had to insist on the Boundary Zone ticket, as I was using it with a one day Travelcard.

So the answer to the OP's question is no, but in this case it didn't particularly matter.

Thanks for the replies - I'd guessed that even if it was the wrong ticket the difference in price would have been max 10p! As it took the clerk awhile to issue it in future I'll buy 'Croydon stations' from the ticket machines to save time

Yes, do not have the exact wording to hand but it states to issue from Boundary Zone 6 as appropriate.

Drifting away from the OPs main question, would a BZ6 ticket be valid to Ewell West/East, via Redhill, Dorking and Epsom? Noting that a point to point ticket is more expensive.

Ticket machines also sell BZ tickets without any arguments

Given the same situation as the OP. If he had been issued a BZ6 ticket rather than a Croydon one, would entering the London zones at one of the Ewell stations be valid?
