There is, however, a readily available 140mph non-tilting EMU with 1/3 - 2/3 door layout. The Javelin. I'm not sure if the southernly parts of the WCML need that much tilting, so they might be able to keep to pendo timings if you include their greater acceleration

All somewhat moot as they can't do more than 110 even if they did get on the WCML.

At the other end of the WCML it would be interesting to see how a TPE Class 350 and a Virgin Class 390 compare time wise between Edinburgh Waverley / Glasgow Central and Wigan North Western. Are TPE's 350s cleared for 110mph running yet?

I appreciate the north end of the WCML is less congested than the south end but the north end is none the less struggling e.g. TPE cannot call at Lockerbie on all the services it wishes to because it cannot afford to lose time stopping on some tightly timed services.
