WCML loud stretches in previous years

In relation to a previous thread about examples of stretches of rail roar, I remember reading people saying that the WCML used to have some noisy stretches in the 70s or so. Can anyone remember any particular locations on the WCML which had loud stretches of track - fast or slow lines etc? The thought of a HST or any LHCS screaming over rails at 100-125mph sounds particularly impressive! Whenever I have gone on the south WCML I haven't noticed any loud stretches though.
