Is there any likliehood of 214 coming back into service and if so, when and if not, do you know what will happen to it?
Is it simply being out into end of lease condition?

Seems to have gone quiet again, last I heard it was meant to start testing then will be moved back to West Midlands. But that was some weeks ago now.

Excellent work above, keeping the list up-to-date, 730s are now 5, Monday 10th June 2024, still two 730 duties on Bromsgrove, but 3 730 duties on Redditch to Four Oaks, in a week the Redditch Lime has had a , vast transformation, however only x2 323 solo 323s appeared to be in use week commencing Monday 10th June 2024, on the Redditch line,

The next units to venture North (after a brief spell in Wolverton) will be 323213 & 323242 on the 20th June (so assume there's a trip to Wolverton on the 17th). Shortly after that 323203 & 323241 will also head up North on 27th June (so again, the 24th for a visit to Wolverton). That should leave only 323218 to head North which, I'm told won't be until 323214 returns from Wolverton (which is currently unknown).

When the 150s transferred from WMT, northern put them into traffic straight away, no matter livery they had, wonder what the hold up is with the 323s.
I believe they go through conversion exams before entering service. (Not sure what that involves), If I remember correctly all the units which have transfered par 219 and 243 don't have USB mods so might hold those ones up Abit.

The difference between 323s and 150s was that everyone could already drive them. Victoria drivers have not started learning to drive them yet and as they cover alot of routes they (323s) are going out on, the service would fall to bits.

If they already signed them they definitely would be our and about already. December timetable change looks likely when they will come in.

They’re still in service on a daily basis at present.
No. The 323's will still be around for a good few weeks.

The 50/50 730/323 split on the CrossCity line this week was because there have been no trains between Birmingham and Lichfield due to engineering works.

Even if a fourth 730 diagram starts next week most CrossCity services will still be operated by 323's.

Even after the last transfer to Northern has happened there will still be nine units left for use on the Crosscity lIne.
All right thanks! (late reply, was away in Spain for a week for personal reasons)

Planning to do the whole cross-city route on 323s and try and spot what I can for spotting (on trainlogger) and take pictures. Especially the ones not being transferred.

Probably said this before, but why don't they use the spare ones while the others are being refreshed into northern livery.
I don't really see the point. I doubt Wolverton (presumably the work be done there) will have the capacity to have them all in at the same time anyway

Slightly off topic, but when they were first introduced were they used on Birmingham - Liverpool services? I remember getting on one at Crewe (1997?) and someone on the train told me it started at Liverpool.

Yes, they did, with the 310s, briefly sometimes with central trains they worked on the Stansted Airport to Liverpool Lime Street as well, obviously got swapped over at Birmingham New Street, and at Crewe had Stansted Airport on the front Destination blinds,

I believe they were for a limited time. I could be wrong but intercity stopped bham to liverpool so the 323 filled the gap taking the slow line from stafford to crewe bit, and later got replaced by 158's.
Happy to be corrected as it was a long time ago.

323s were on the Liverpool work when the 310s were retired in 2000 for quite a few years before they themselves were replaced by 170s. First North Western also ran 323s from Piccadilly to Birmingham with the 309s, remember those!
