The title pretty much says it all. I've seen people using a variety of image resolutions on their photo sites, and I can't decide which is best to use on my own site. I was wondering which was the best, and why people use different resolutions.

The most common screen resolution used by people is 1024x768. So somewhere around 800pixels across. Having said that, I use between 1000x667 and 1000x750 (3:2 - 4:3 aspect ratio) because most people I know use higher resolution.

I use 1000 x 667 as well as it fits on my most people monitors.

Usually 1024 x between 683 and 768 on Railpictures , roughly 900 x 600 for my own site.

I started with Railpictures first, so just kept on sizing the pictures at 1024 across for my own site, but soon decided to scale them down slightly as I found that size a little too large for smaller computer monitors. Anything less than 900 horizontally is a bit too small for my tastes.

I usually go for 1024 pixels on fotopic with some shots reduced to 800 pixels to reduce bandwidth.
