What would, say a Leeds driver, cover in a day in their shift? Would they go to London and back once a day, twice, or something else?

I ask out of interest and nothing else.

I'm not based at Leeds but the majority of their work is to London and back. On the early turns they will go out to Neville Hill to pick up their train and bring it into Leeds before heading off to London and on the late turns they will take their train onto Neville Hill after doing their trip to London.
They also have the trains to Skipton,Bradford and Harrogate and Lincoln with the associated ECS moves and the majority of the York terminating trains where they will travel pass between Leeds and York before or after working them.
Plus they have a few turns where they go to Newcastle. Earliest start 03.28 and latest finish is 02.41 but they only have 1 proper night turn.

Now compare that with a Eurostar turn which to Paris is near as dammit the same journey time yet there are several turns where the crew lodge!
Catering crews don't though.

Would Edinburgh based drivers do London and back in a day or take the train, say to York and then one back north?

Edinburgh sign to Newcastle and Aberdeen and I think Inverness
Newcastle sign London Edinburgh Aberdeen Inverness split over 3 links though
London sign Newcastle

Fair few diversionary routes in there too for each depot

For Leeds guys, there's also the morning Aberdeen service up to Newcastle, they then work a train to Doncaster before passing back to Leeds
