2.6Ghz 256mb ram, my personal pc was a 1Ghz 512mb ram and it excelled itself over this one. I'm now looking at an Athlon xp 3200+ barton with 1024mb ram.

2.8Ghz processor with 1024MB RAM, although sometimes, I wonder if that is what is actually in it!

EDIT: PC = 300 & something RAM - Laptop = 512mb RAM

I believe I am running with a AMD Athlon XP processor, although what speed it is I'm not sure...2400+ I read, 512MB of RAM. I wonder sometimes if that's actually true...

We have quite alot of PC's/Laptops in this house. This is the list of them. Lowest CPU first, My ones are marked

IBM Thinkpad 380Z Laptop = 298MHz with 64MB RAM - 4GB Hard drive
*HP Pavilion 7810 (out of service) 700MHz with 512MB RAM - 20gb Hard drive* 8) - My Ex one
Dell Dimention - Unknown model - Laptop - 1.6GHZ with 256MB RAM - 30gb hard drive - (My dads work laptop)
*Biostar - 2.8GHz with 256MB RAM - 100gb hard drive* 8) - Mine
and finally
Duel Processor unkown model at 5.2GHz with 8192MB RAM or 8GB - 2.1TB hard drive

I have Acsess to the Laptop, HP and Biostar only due to the fact that my dad says there is no need to use the work laptop or the family PC  I want to try out 5.2GHz sooo bady

5.2GHz is made when you put two 2.6GHz CPU's together ;)

My PC will support a Maximum of a AMD Athlon 64-bit 3700+ operating at 3.2GHz and 2gigs of RAM.

2400+ will operate at the same speed as a Intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz

It's not as simple as that. Which OS (Operating System), anyway?

!!!!!

I was looking online at such machines, found a customised model on Dell which had four processors, a few terabytes of HDD space and about 32GB of RAM - for ten grand!

Anyway, my main machine is a 3.0gHz Dell Inspiron laptop, 1024mb RAM and a relatively small (60gb) HDD. The one I use connect to the internet (this one) is a dinosaur, 933mhz with 196mb RAM and 18gb HDD.

You can customise Dell models, which is a good point (one of their best) - if you look on the "Customise & Buy" section, you can subtract extra crap like "how to use Windoze" CDs and helldesk support for 20 years. They also do offers of double memory some months, which are good to look out for.

That's some SERIOUS overkill!

Seems as stupid an idea as having, say, 4 60s to haul one wagon! That is some serious overkill too!

HSTfan!!!: Glad to know you're an AMD fan, I am too! Finding a laptop with an AMD chip isn't the easiest thing in the world I've noticed!
